Rick Anderson

Chairman and Chief Executive Officer

A strong advocate of value-based medicine and improving patient care and choice, Rick has 23 years of experience in consumer-focused healthcare solutions.

Prior to joining Smart Choice MRI in 2014, Rick served as senior vice president of the social engagement platform Sharecare. Since its founding in 2009 by Dr. Mehmet Oz, Jeff Arnold and Harpo Studios, Rick led the company’s hospital markets and provider solutions team. Prior to his tenure at Sharecare, Rick served as a startup and executive team member for several healthcare businesses, including WebMD, QDS and Endeavor Technologies.

Rick is co-founder and board member of Alithias, a healthcare business intelligence platform providing cost transparency for self-insured employers, third-party administrators and health plans.

An avid cyclist, Rick also serves on the board of directors of the Nova Cycle Sport Foundation, committed to developing junior and women cyclists through a leadership program. Rick also serves on several high-growth company boards.

He earned his BA in history from Bethel University.

Roland Wikstrom

President and Chief Operating Officer

Roland has over 25 years of experience in global banking and financial services and has held a number of senior leadership positions at Citigroup, The Central Bank of Norway, ABN AMRO and The Bank of Montreal.

Most recently, Roland was the head of North American Rates Trading at Citigroup. As the former Managing Director, he was directly responsible for overseeing fixed income trading and management for U.S. Government debt, U.S. Agency Mortgage debt and all interest rate derivatives. Prior to leading Citi’s rates trading group, Roland was a Managing Director serving as Citibank’s Risk Treasurer. He was responsible for USD liquidity management, funding and fixed income portfolio management. Before Citigroup, he was a senior portfolio manager and Head of Fixed Income Trading at the Investment Management unit of The Central Bank of Norway.

Roland holds a B.A. in Political Science from DePauw University, a M.B.A. from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management and is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA).

Rusty Taylor

Chief Financial Officer

Rusty has over 23 years of experience in finance, strategy and operations across healthcare, manufacturing and service companies. He is deeply focused on building value for the company, its’ employees and for the patient and their families.

Prior to joining Smart Choice MRI, Rusty served as the Group CFO for Surgical Care Affiliates driving financial and operational performance across surgery centers while lowering the cost of care across the healthcare space. Before SCA, Rusty was the Vice President of Client Success and Finance for Zynx Health, a SaaS healthcare platform that improved care across the continuum through clinical decision support. At Zynx, he led all finance, legal and client success operations including account and project management, clinical informatics and client support.

Rusty received his MBA from The University of Southern California and his BS in Business Management from Pepperdine University.

Mike Dermont

Senior Vice President, Partnership Development

With over 20+ years of contracting and payor experience, Mike brings a hands-on, person-centered, and collaborative approach. He has a proven record of negotiating and maximizing payor relationships.

Prior to joining Smart Choice MRI, Mike served as Director of National Accounts with BrightStar Care where he was responsible for developing and negotiating contracts with commercial, private and government payors. From 1998 to 2009, Mike served as President, Air Angels, Inc Initially hired as the Director of Sales & Technology, Mike was responsible for building and growing the sales department for Air Angels, Inc., the Midwest’s first, standalone air medical transport company.

Mike earned his B.S. Business Administration with concentration in Management from San Jose State University.

He is a past member of the Healthcare Finance Management Association (HFMA), Chicago Healthcare Executive Forum (CHEF) & The American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE).

Dana Anderson

Senior Vice President, Patient Experience & Talent Acquisition

Dana brings over 18 years of experience in the commercial, residential and environmental design industry to Smart Choice MRI. Her creative, patient focused approach to clinic design goes beyond traditional space planning processes by putting the needs and desires of the patient first. Dana’s role transcends the design arena to encompass every patient touch point. What the patient sees, hears and feels relative to our brand promise is at the forefront of Dana’s focus.

Prior to joining Smart Choice MRI, Dana was founder and President of Blackberry Road Design Group, Inc., which included space planning and design services for mid to large sized commercial clientele, including healthcare organizations. Her experience providing services to residential clientele gives Dana a highly personalized understanding of how people live, interact and move in their environment.

Sarah Bild

Senior Vice President, Marketing & Brand Strategy

Sarah is an experienced marketer and brand strategist, bringing over 15 years of consumer marketing experience to the Smart Choice MRI team. She has a proven track record of building and leading large consumer brands.

Prior to joining Smart Choice MRI, she was at PepsiCo and worked across a number of categories and brands including Gatorade, Quaker Oatmeal, Propel, and Quaker Lite Snacks. Most recently she led the launch of the Gatorade Endurance brand with accountability across strategy, marketing, sales and innovation. Throughout her career, Sarah has gained expertise in driving brand vision and strategy, leading integrated cross-platform marketing communications, and innovation. Sarah also brings deep consumer empathy and a digital mind-set after spending a number of years in consumer insights as well as leading the digital practice for the Gatorade brand.

She has an M.B.A from the Kellogg School of Management and a B.S. in Business Administration from the University of Illinois.

Corinne Atty D.O.

Chief Medical Advisor

Dr. Atty is a Senior Attending Physician at John H. Stoger Jr. Hospital and is also on staff at Presence St Mary and Elizabeth. She previously served as Chief Resident for the Diagnostic Radiology Residency Program at John H. Stoger Jr. Hospital, and currently serves on the Quality Assurance Committee.

Dr. Atty completed her residency training in Diagnostic Radiology at Chicago’s John H. Stoger Jr. Hospital of Cook County and her fellowship at Northwestern Medical Center in Neuroradiology. She received her Board Certification in Diagnostic Radiology in 2015. She is affiliated with the American Roentgen Ray Society and the American Society of Neuroradiology.

Jerry Zemela, RT (R,MR)

Regional Operations Director

Jerry is a registered MRI Technologist with a business management degree from National-Louis University.

He has been involved in the MRI business for over twenty years. Prior to joining Smart Choice MRI in April of 2016, Jerry was an integral part in establishing and later managing the Open Advanced MRI network of free-standing MRI centers for over eighteen years. Throughout his career Jerry developed and built out many multi-modality diagnostic radiology centers.  He put into operation the very first open architecture magnet in the Chicagoland area which became a beta center for Hitachi of America. He was running the day-to-day operations at thirteen clinics.
Besides being an expert in the field of MRI, Jerry is also bringing to SCMRI many years of customer service expertise which he utilizes on a daily basis to maintain all the Illinois centers as the Regional Operations Director in the state. He is focused on achieving and maintaining the highest possible patient satisfaction and to prioritize a positive experience for everyone who comes to Smart Choice MRI.

 

 

Dave Rusch

Vice President, Business Development

Dave brings a diverse array of skills in business development, sales, and sales management with Fortune 100 Companies and entrepreneurial projects.

Dave’s health care experience spans over 20 years, a majority of that time dedicated to the advancement of minimally-invasive surgical and diagnostic procedures with Ethicon Endo-Surgery, a division of Johnson & Johnson.  His expertises span from clinical to health care economics. He also founded Cardio-Start, an emergency response company designed to train non-professional first responders in CPR, as well as increase the availability of public access defibrillators.

He has a BBA in Marketing from the University of Wisconsin at Whitewater.

 

Tyler Mueller

Controller

Tyler brings a passion and knowledge for analysis and problem solving.  With nearly 10 years of accounting and finance experience, he has a propensity to implement processes and systems to gain efficiency and accuracy.

Prior to working for Smart Choice, Tyler was part of the finance team for medical supply distributor, Specialized Medical Services.  Tyler previously worked extensively in public accounting at Wipfli, leading financial audits, reviews, and financial statement compilations.

Tyler has a B.S. in both Accounting and Finance from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse.  He is a CPA in the state of Wisconsin.

Jeff Allred

Jeff Allred is a partner in the Atlanta office of Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough LLP, concentrating in corporate strategy, governance, acquisitions, and finance.

Jeff has experience in strategic corporate development, including the interrelationship among strategic planning, corporate finance, mergers and acquisitions, and corporate organization and governance. He has led or advised businesses in a variety of industries on various matters, including public and private debt and equity financings, acquisitions, dispositions, venture investments, control contests, regulatory compliance, and corporate governance. Jeff is also an active speaker in legal, business, and educational symposiums.

Jeff Chester

Jeff has over 20 years of Health IT experience and has leadership roles with Availity LLC, General Electric, IDX Systems Corporation and WebMD.

Currently, Jeff is the Chief Revenue Officer at Availity LLC., who is a leading Health Information Exchange provider in the US with $180M in annual revenue. In this role he is responsible for aspects Availity’s Sales, Customer Support, Marketing and Product Development. Prior to joining Availity, Jeff was a Commercial VP and General Manager for GE HCIT/IDX. Among core commercial leadership responsibilities for a $500M portfolio, Mr. Chester led the integration of GE HCIT and IDX Systems Corporation. Jeff started his healthcare career in 1993 with WebMD, where he was part of the original management team that merged WebMD with Healtheon, Envoy, and Medical Manager.

Jeff graduated from Florida State University with a Bachelor of Science in Economics.

Annette Kenney

Board of Directors

Annette Kenney has over 25 years of health care experience as a provider, consultant, and senior leader in healthcare organizations. She developed her early career on the East coast, first as a consultant for National Capital Systems, Inc. in Washington DC and Arthur D. Little, Inc. in Cambridge, Massachusetts. She was instrumental in establishing the first planning function at Children’s Hospital Boston, and proceeded to senior management positions overseeing strategic planning, marketing and physician strategy and recruitment at St. Anne’s Hospital in Fall River, Massachusetts and at Jordan Health System in Plymouth, Massachusetts. After moving to the Chicago area with her family in 1994, she established an independent consulting practice with a focus on strategic planning, business development and physician network development.

Currently, she is System Executive Vice President/Chief Strategy Officer for Edward-Elmhurst Health, an integrated hospital and health system in Chicago’s western suburbs. Here she is responsible for the establishment and execution of the System’s overall strategic, physician and ambulatory network development plans, as well as oversight of the organization’s marketing and government relations functions. In addition to these responsibilities she serves on the board of directors of several community and professional organizations. Annette received her B.S. in Physical Therapy from the University of Connecticut and a Masters in Public Health/Health Services Administration and Epidemiology from Yale University.

Tim Olson

Tim Olson was named Chief Financial Officer for ThedaCare, Inc. in 2007. Mr. Olson joined ThedaCare in July 2000 as Controller for Touchpoint Health Plan, the Corporation’s health plan. Later, Mr. Olson was named Chief Financial Officer for the health plan as it transitioned the membership after its sale to United HealthCare in 2004. He also served as ThedaCare’s Controller and Vice President of Finance for Appleton Medical Center and Theda Clark Medical Center before being named Chief Financial Officer.

Prior to joining ThedaCare, Mr. Olson served in various financial capacities at Mercury Marine, a Division of Brunswick Corporation, and Schneider National. Mr. Olson holds both a Bachelors of Business Administration in Accounting and Finance as well as an MBA from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh.

Scott Lurie

Scott has over 12 years of experience in Real Estate and Alternative financing.

He currently manages his portfolio of over 1400 multi-family units in Southeastern Wisconsin. In addition to real estate acquisition and management, Scott runs several other businesses associated with Alternative financing for the industry. To date, Scott has financed over $50 Million in real estate transactions.

Steven J. Hess

Steve has been working in the Healthcare IT field for over 25 years. Steve was named the Chief Information Officer of University of Colorado Health (UCHealth) in 2012. UCHealth is a Colorado-based healthcare system that includes seven hospitals and hundreds of clinics throughout Colorado, Wyoming and Western Nebraska. Steve and his team have been focused on implementing consolidated and standardized IT systems across all of the UCHealth hospitals and clinics, including an Epic EHR and Lawson ERP solution. Steve was previously the CIO of University of Colorado Hospital from 2009 to 2012 where he oversaw the implementation of the Epic EMR and Lawson ERP solutions there. Prior to that, Steve was the CIO at Christiana Care Health System in Delaware for 5 years. In addition to the EMR and ERP background, Steve has extensive experience with Health Information Exchange, Interactive Patient Care Systems, Patient Portals, Analytics, Data Science, and Virtual Health.
